Hello and welcome! I am so excited to be reaching out to you today. As a new member joining the Center for Elders’ Independence (CEI), I look forward to serving you and your loved ones. My goal is to ensure that our community remains vibrant, connected, and supported. Whether you are a longtime participant or just learning about what we do, I want you to know that we are here to walk alongside you every step of the way.
Navigating health care and community resources can sometimes feel like a puzzle with missing pieces. You might find yourself wondering, "Where can I find fresh food this week?" or "How can I stay active this summer?" That is exactly why we prioritize community outreach. We don't just want to be a name on a building; we want to be a friendly face in your neighborhood.
In this post, we have compiled a complete tracking guide and calendar for our upcoming events in June and July 2026. This document is designed to be clean and easy to print, so you can stick it on your refrigerator or keep it in your bag as you head out the door!
Why Community Outreach Matters to You
At CEI Pace, we believe that staying healthy involves more than just doctor visits. It’s about social connection, access to nutritious food, and celebrating our shared history. When we show up at street festivals or senior centers, we are there to provide information, answer your questions in person, and help you understand the benefits of the PACE program (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly).
If you ever have questions about our schedule or the services we offer, please don't hesitate to call us directly at 415 370 8809.

Event Highlights: What to Expect
You might be wondering, "What actually happens at these events?" Here is a little more detail about some of our key stops this summer.
Oakland Juneteenth Celebration
This is more than just a festival; it is a powerful celebration of freedom and community. We will have a presence on Brockhurst Street, nestled between Market and San Pablo. It is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy local music, food, and culture. If you are a senior or a caregiver, stop by our booth to learn how CEI Pace can help you stay independent in your own home while receiving the medical care you need.
Wellness Summit: Love Letters to Our Bodies
Health isn't just about medications, it's about how we feel in our own skin. This summit at 2000 Franklin St is a beautiful event focused on holistic wellness. It’s beneficial to take a day for yourself to learn about nutrition, mental health, and gentle movement. We are proud to support events that celebrate aging with grace and strength.
Weekly Food Pantry at EOSC
We know that nutrition is the foundation of health. Every Wednesday morning, the team at the East Oakland Senior Center provides essential groceries to our community. If you find it difficult to get to the store or need a little extra help with your weekly budget, this is a fantastic resource. Our staff is often on-site to chat and provide information on our locations and how we support healthy eating through our PACE centers.

Myth vs. Fact: Understanding Your Benefits
When we talk to people in the field, we often hear a lot of confusion about what "PACE" actually is. Let’s clear up some common misconceptions!
Myth: "I have to move into a nursing home to get full-time care."
Fact: Actually, the opposite is true! The whole point of CEI Pace is to provide you with the medical, social, and rehabilitation services you need so that you can stay in your own home. We bring the care to you, or transport you to our local centers.
Myth: "I will lose my current doctors if I join."
Fact: When you join PACE, you work with a dedicated team of specialists who coordinate every aspect of your care. While you may transition to our highly skilled staff, you gain a whole team of experts, including doctors, nurses, and therapists, who meet daily to discuss your health!
Myth: "It’s too expensive."
Fact: For most people who have both Medicare and Medi-Cal, PACE services are available at no out-of-pocket cost! It is a comprehensive benefit that covers everything from dental and vision to transportation and home care.
How We Can Help You Today
If you are feeling overwhelmed by your health needs or the needs of a loved one, please know that you do not have to navigate this process alone. At CEI, we provide an "all-in-one" approach. This means we handle your prescriptions, your medical appointments, your physical therapy, and even your social activities.
Think of us as a bridge between where you are now and a life with less stress and more support. If you are curious about whether you or a family member qualifies, you can browse our caregiver corner for tips or simply give us a call.
